SI PROTECT FG is a torch-applied, semi-rigid bituminous protection board reinforced with a double glass-fibre carrier. It is not a waterproofing membrane — it is laid over a finished waterproofing membrane or liquid coating to shield it from mechanical stress, impact and puncture by sharp aggregate and debris during backfilling and site works. It is water resistant, stands up to wet soil, and resists salt and alkali attack, so it suits below-ground work such as footings, basement and retaining walls, beams and columns, as well as water tanks, swimming pools, bridge decks, car parks and bathrooms. Boards come 1 x 2 m in 3, 3.2, 3.5, 4 and 6 mm, torched fully bonded from the low points; the catalogue requires backfilling to follow within 48 hours of installation.
