Polistik/M Underspecial HQ is Mappy Italia's impact-sound (footfall) insulation underlay for floors, laid under the screed. It is a two-layer mat: expanded polyethylene foam bonded to a high-density regenerated polyester fibre made from recycled PET bottles, with a protective non-woven (TNT) film that faces upwards so the mat is not torn during work on site. The rolls have a lapped (overlapping) edge and are supplied with Mappytape TXT adhesive tape, which seals the joints so no sound bridge forms between rolls. Used with a perimeter edge strip it creates a floating screed that cuts footstep noise, chair-scraping and impact noise between floors, and it works with all screed types including underfloor heating. Where to use it: • Impact and footfall sound insulation of intermediate floor slabs in apartments, villas and towers • Laid under the screed before porcelain, marble, ceramic or parquet flooring • Hotel, office and retail floors where chair-scraping and footstep noise must be cut • Floating-screed build-ups used together with a perimeter edge strip • Concrete and timber floor slabs, including systems with underfloor heating • Double-layered (two layers of the mat) where higher acoustic performance is required Important: • Not for walls, partitions or false ceilings — use Mappysil CR 400 for those • Must be covered by the screed or a floating floor — it is not a finished surface, and the TNT film side faces up • Screed should be at least 5 cm thick; thinner screeds must be reinforced with mesh to prevent cracking
