MAPPYSIL CR 404 is Mappy Italia's three-layer sound-insulating and thermo-insulating panel: a fibreglass-reinforced aluminium facing for mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, a high-density flexible elastomeric mass barrier that adds weight and blocks sound, and a 100% thermally bonded regenerated-fibre mat that decouples that heavy barrier from the noise source. It is the manufacturer's designated product for the acoustic and thermal insulation of pipes and drainage stacks — the layer you wrap around soil and waste pipes to cut the noise of falling water inside shafts and behind walls — and it is used the same way on air-conditioning ducts, heat exchangers, compressors and engines. Mappy also lists it for the acoustic and thermal insulation of walls and false ceilings. It is classified Class A to ASTM E 84, is not affected by moisture or water, has low VOC emissions, and is supplied in rolls, sheets or die-cut pieces, with an optional self-adhesive version using water-based acrylic adhesive. Where to use it: • Wrapping drainage pipes and soil/waste stacks to cut the noise of falling water • Lagging plumbing and HVAC pipework running in shafts, risers and behind partition walls • Acoustic and thermal insulation of air-conditioning ducts • Insulating heat exchangers, compressors and engines (industrial version) • Acoustic and thermal insulation of walls and false ceilings Important: • Not for floors or under-screed footfall noise — use Polistik/M Underspecial HQ for that • Indoor use only — it resists humidity and water but carries no weather-exposure rating • Not a firestop or fire collar — its Class A rating covers surface burning, not sealing a penetration
